The old Top-10 stub for this city named three or four places and stopped. Tarragona city has a real cluster: a pastry shop in 43005, two empanada counters in the Eixample / Part Alta, a brasería on Reding, and a Baires pair (Bar + Serrallo). The Tarragona map holds 20 listings. Cambrils and Salou sit in the same file; they are a train or car, not a walk from the amphitheatre.
Open Pastisseria La Boca for pastry, EMPANADAS ALMA for a stuffed savoury, and OMBÚ for a grill night.
Part Alta and the Eixample (43001–43003)
Empanada Club Tarragona on Carrer de Cristòfor Colom 8 (4.2★, 103) is the Eixample counter near the market. EMPANADAS ALMA on Carrer de Sant Fructuós 3 (4.3★, 98) is the 43003 / Part Alta shop. Neither has Malvón-level volume; phone if you need a dozen on Sunday.
OMBÚ BRASERIA & ASADOR on Carrer de Reding 23 (4.5★, 300) is the in-town grill: parrillada de carne, BBQ, a smaller room than the Cambrils asadores. La cuina d’argent on Carrer de la Nau 6 (4.6★, 99) sits two doors from Taula Rodona; guests mention Argentine empanadas, entrecôte and cheesecake. Baires Bar on Carrer del Còs del Bou 9 (4.7★, 633) is the Part Alta drinking / late pin with a Río de la Plata name.
ELIAN on Avenida de Ramón y Cajal 22 (4.6★, 1,330) is a broader restaurant whose guests mention skirt steak and chocotorta — useful if the group is mixed, not a dedicated parrilla. TIENDA LATINA TARRAGONA on Carrer de Sevilla 9 (4.8★, 574) is the pantry shop, not a table.
Serrallo and 43005
Baires Serrallo on Carrer de Trafalgar 19 (4.6★, 417) is the fishing-quarter sibling of Baires Bar — walk it if you are already at the port, not from the cathedral. Pastisseria La Boca on Carrer d’Eivissa 24 (4.9★, 235) is the artisan Argentine bakery in 43005, the highest-scoring pastry card in the city file.
Cambrils and Salou (not a Tarragona walk)
Asador Argentino Puerto Madero and Kampo are Cambrils. MARIO’S is Salou. They inflate a “Tarragona top 10” if you only sort by reviews. Budget the C-32 or the Rodalies; do not start at Plaça de la Font.
How to choose
| If you want… | Open this card | Area |
|---|---|---|
| Artisan pastry | La Boca | 43005 |
| Empanadas in Part Alta | Alma | Sant Fructuós |
| In-town grill | OMBÚ | Reding |
| Port-side Baires | Baires Serrallo | Trafalgar |
| Cambrils asador (trip) | Puerto Madero | Cambrils |
Part Alta and Serrallo are not one stroll after dinner: the fishing quarter sits below the cliff, so pick Baires Bar or Baires Serrallo unless you want the steps. La Boca on Carrer d’Eivissa is the 43005 bakery — pair it with a morning market walk, not with Ombú at 22:00. Empanada Club near the market and Alma on Sant Fructuós cover a dozen for the train back; phone Sunday mornings because the cases empty.
A Cambrils asado is a half-day, not a dessert hop from Plaça de la Font. If the group only has one night in Tarragona city, book Ombú and walk Còs del Bou after.
ArgentoDir does not take bookings. Phones are on the Tarragona map.
Frequently asked questions
Why rewrite the old Top-10? It listed too few city-centre places and mixed in Cambrils without saying so. This page uses the same 20-listing file and keeps the walk inside Tarragona.
